Voxsmart – Specialists in mobile technology, experts in recording

FAQ's

Voxsmart is a UK based private company that is the leading provider of mobile applications for smartphones.

Mobile phones have evolved into small computers. Like all computing devices, they are only as good as the combination of Operating System and Hardware that they are based on. Voxsmart has found that there is a huge gap between the quality, security and reliability of applications when deployed on BlackBerry in comparison to other smartphones. We want our customers to have an excellent user experience, so we recommend BlackBerry smartphones as the preferred mobile device.

Voxsmart has basic versions of its applications for Nokia N and E series. We can also provide limited support for MS Mobile V6 and above. However, supporting other devices is quoted for on a case by case basis due to the additional support costs that we will likely incur if our customer does not want to use a BlackBerry.

Voxsmart’s phone call recording solution is carrier dependent. The only GSM carrier we have found worldwide that does not support our service is T-Mobile in the UK. This is a problem we expect will disappear as T-Mobile gets merged into Orange. Whilst our standard service is GSM based, we can also deploy for CDMA and UMTS networks.

Voxsmart is based around some original ideas from co-founder John Enoch. His view is that there is an under addressed opportunity to migrate landline applications to a mobile environment. When IT vendors migrate an established landline solution to a mobile environment, it typically gets very complicated and costly. Voxsmart is addressing the opportunity is to deploy applications as middleware, sitting between mobile devices and IT infrastructure in a way that avoids the typical cost and complexity drawbacks of other approaches.

So far, Voxsmart has mobile centric solutions for cost savings on overseas calls, instant conference calling, call accounting and call recording. There are so far 5 types of mobile call recording solution from Voxsmart since we cater for multiple recording and security scenarios.

Voxsmart is providing a mobile call recording solution, not a wiretapping solution. In many countries you will be required to inform the other party that they are being recorded whether in writing or by including beeps of delays on the call and call set up. On a good mobile network, Voxsmart is almost invisible to the other party, so we do advise our customers to check and take ownership for complying with their local legal requirements.
